Swimming Sports Stories

I went to the swimming sports. I liked to watch the teachers dive in the water. It looked like they were penguins diving for some fish. by Tane

The Amazing Swimming Sports
Tuesday the Moana and Maunga syndicates went swimming at Nayland Pool. It was Nayland Primary’s annual swimming sports. When we got there we got dressed into our togs and went and sat with our house colour mates. Our teachers put numbers on our hands so we know what groups we were in. At first when we got into the pool it was really cold. But when we started moving it got warmer and warmer. This was fun! I love swimming. I just love it!
I came fourth place once and last place twice. My house colour is Brunner. My house colour group was yelling “Go Brunner!” They were cheering to give the swimmers a boost! Once we had done one of our races we went and sat down with our towels around us. We got to have snacks during our swimming races. My numbers for the racing I had to do were 7, 25 and 35. I had fun doing my swimming. I was getting better at swimming races. Some of us did relays and some didn’t. Brunner is the colour green. When I came 4th place I was pleased with what place I had come. When I came last I was disappointed with myself. After the teachers race we walked back to school and we were tired! When we got back to school it was lunch time and we got our lunches and started to eat because we were very hungry as well as tired! I was so tired I nearly fell over and went to sleep! I love swimming sports at Nayland Poo!   by Ciara Mclellan

Swimming for Your Life.
When we went to the swimming sports we went past the river. I nearly dropped my hat in, but instead my sandal fell in like I plunged in. Everyone laughed. When we got there we went to our house colours. I was Cotterell and I was in race 7, 25, 35 and the “R” team. In the relays I was second in and first out. Mia and Victoria came first in the relays. When I got changed and got out the teachers relay started. Jeremy and his team were like lightning bolts flashing into the water. After we got changed we went back to school and had lunch. Then we had a normal afternoon and went home and read four books. by Josina

Swimming sports
On Tuesday the Moana and Maunga syndicates went swimming at Nayland Pool. When we went over I was so nervous and excited. We all had to sit in our house groups. When I got in Heaphy cheered wildly. Then the thing clapped and I raced the other children and I came first in the overarm. I was proud. Then for my next race it was flutter board kick. Smack went the clapper. Then I kicked as hard as I could and I won all my races. I got out and got dressed and went back to school. I had a great time at swimming sports.  by Zoe B

Swimming Sports
On Monday we went to swimming sports. It was only the Moana and the Maunga syndicates going. It was at Nayland Pool. When we got there we all sat down on a rock seat in hour teams. My team was Brunner. When the races began we all cheered for our team. When they go in the water they all stopped cheering and watched the race. My team shouted “Go Brunner”. When the races across the pool started I knew that my race was coming because my first race was number 7. On my second race which was number 13 I same second. After my last race I went to get changed. When I came back it was the teacher relays. The teacher relays were only for teachers. I can’t wait to next year’s swimming sports! I wonder what three numbers I will be next year? by Lexi

Fantastic Swimming Sports
On Tuesday the Moana and Maunga syndicates went swimming at Nayland Pool because it was the Nayland School annual swimming sports. My Nana and Nononnon came to watch me. Nononnon is Italian for granddad. When the seventh group was called out everyone who wanted to do the free style had to go and line up behind the cones. One of the teachers clapped two bits of wood together that was hinged together. Off went the first group of kids. I didn’t come first, second, third or fourth but I came fifth on the first one. Everyone in the first group got out and wrapped themselves up in their towels. I had to wait for a few minutes until my next race. It finally came to my second race. “On your marks, get set, go!” Now it’s my turn to race. “On your marks, get set, go” yelled the starter. I came third. Now I get out I wrapped myself up on my towel. After I did my second race everyone started to call out “Let’s go Spooner, Let’s Go!” Now for my third race.  “On your marks, get set, go”. “Yippy” I came second. My mum was proud of me. Time for the relays. “Go Mia” my mum, Nana and Nononnon yelled. I think room ten won! But it was still fun anyway. Then the teachers had their race. Then we walked back to school.   by Mia

On Tuesday the Moana and Maunga syndicates went swimming at Nayland Pool. First we got our togs and bags. Then we walked over to the pool. When we got there I got dressed, then we went to the development pool. We got to do races like the egg and spoon race. Then we had free time. I asked Mrs Cass if she could get the slide going and she said yes. Soon it was going so I played on it. Then I got cold so I got dressed then had some morning tea with Lucy. After that I went to go sit down to watch the relay. I got excited when the teachers raced. Jeremy was like a cheetah when he swam. Then we headed back. I had so much fun.   by Ollie
