Fishing

When the Minstrel came a few weeks ago, he asked us to write a story about going fishing. These were to include some of the messages which would help keep us safe, make sure there are fish for the future and to help us enjoy the fish we catch.  Tayla's story was the winning entry from Room 7

Fishing
by Tayla Bromley

One day these four boys went fishing.  They did not wear a life jacket.  They got in their boat and went to sea.  They felt something tugging on the line.  They pulled it up.  It was a mummy fish.  One of the boys said, “Let’s keep it.” But one of the other boys said, “No, it has babies.” So the boy let it go. Then he felt something pulling again.  They pulled it up and picked up a wet towel.  Let’s go back to our home and cook it.  “No,” said one of the boys.  We need to put it in some ice with some salt in a bucket.  So they went back home, but when they got back they crashed into a rock.  The rock was as big as a door.  They fell in the water with a big splash.  They got back in their boat and one of the boys said, “That’s why we should wear a life jacket. Let’s go home now!” “OK,” they replied together.
