First Aide Training

Today we had Kathryn from St Johns teaching us about first aide. We covered things like bleeding, blisters, bee stings and burns. We also had to use our problem solving skills in groups to work out what to do if someone was having health problems while we were out tramping.

Suter Art Gallery

Esther talking to us in the new Suter classroom.
These are the materials and equipment we used to make the clay santas.

We drew designs and patterns from around the gallery to decorate the Santa hats.

Esther is demonstrating the first steps.

The two Bellas are using a rolling pin, with two pencils as guides, to roll out slabs of clay.

We lay the slabs over sushi dishes to get the right shape.

Everyone added features and texture to make the Santa face,

Being a Friend

Be Nice
To be nice you can be kind, help others, and include others.
First if you see someone in the playground then you can ask if they want to play.
Another way to be a friend is if you see someone getting bullied then you can stand up for them.
There are even more ways to be a good friend but I'm going to tell you one more.
The last and final thing is always be nice and kind to people and they might be your friend.
I hope that you have memorised my reasons to be a great friend and maybe you could teach some other people to be nice.

How to be a Good Friend
Have you ever felt dejected?  Tell me why you got dejected, was it because of a friend?  I have three ways about how to be a good friend.
One of my ways to be a good friend is to stand up for them.  If your friend was getting bullied, stand up for them.  Don't just leave them to get bullied.
Another way to be a good friend is to include people.  Even if they're not your friend, just include anyone that asks to play.
My last way to be a good friend is to think about others feelings, not just your feelings.  Say for instance there was someone crying, go ask them if they want to play.
Has this ever happened to you before?  If it has don't feel ashamed for yourself,  just deal with it and stand up for yourself.
I hope I have persuaded you to be a good friend and remember to use your manners.

Be Kind to Others
Are you not being a good friend?  If you aren't I will tell you three things that might help you.
First don't ignore people if they are trying to talk to you especially if they are saying something nice about you.
Next let people join in your game but don't be a bully and don't say you can't play.  If you are getting bullied walk away or tell your teacher.
Finally, if you see your friend get bullied, go over there and tell them to stop.
I hope you have learnt something from my explanation.
