Our Buddy Class

Room 11 is our Buddy Class and we had a great afternoon working together on a variety of games and activities.

Our Butterfly House

We took these photos in Nayland Primary's butterfly house. The monarch butterflies and caterpillars are at different stages of their life cycle.  The butterflies are released to go out and lay more eggs in the community.  In Room 9 we have been reading, writing and thinking about monarch butterflies.

Swimming Sports Stories

We have been learning to add detail and similes in our writing.  Read some of our Swimming Sports stories.

When I was waiting for my races I felt nervous.  I dived into the pool, it was freezing cold.  I felt like I would lose, I started to do freestyle.  I could hear muffled sounds everywhere.  The water was as cold as ice when I jumped in.  I felt super nervous when it was my race, wishing I didn’t have to do it. When I jumped into the pool I started doing freestyle. I accidentally did six arms and ran out of breath and then gasped for breath for three seconds and then carried on.   Tom

When we got into the pool some people got confused like a lion confused about where to catch its prey.  When I got into the pool I felt cold.  It was freezing.  But after I got out and wrapped my towel around me I started getting warm. Then I waited for my next race.  I waited a long time. Lainee

On the 28th of February it was swimming sports.  I felt very nervous.  When my race was called I jumped into the pool.  It was so cold it was like a huge ice block being pushed on me.  Then I started to swim.  I came last then second and that was my three races gone. Ella

The first race is coming, you are getting really nervous.  It’s time.  You can hear the crowd cheering.  You have to concentrate and listen. “On your marks get set go!” Chlorine flavoured water shoots into my mouth.  Muffled sounds cheering me on.  I get to the other side.  The next person jumps.  I stay out for the rest of the time.  The last person jumps. “Go. Go. Go!” “Yay.” I was in the relays.  Now I get into my warm towel and wait until I was allowed to get changed.  I would like to go to sleep but I have to have lunch.  Riley

We went to Nayland pools for swimming sports.  I went in the deep pool but I had to stand on my tippy toes so I could touch the bottom. Then we did the fast fast races.  It was fun after the race.  We got changed out of our togs and into our school uniform.  Then we sat down in our group and watched the others swim.  Daniella

When I was getting ready for backstroke.  I felt really nervous to race.  The relays were exciting because people were jumping into the pool.  People were swimming like little fishes in the water. Next after relays we got ready to go back to school for lunch and some learning before home time. Bella

I was in the development pool for swimming sports.  The first race was kicking across the pool with a board.  It was only a width.  First people to do the race was Maunga Syndicate.  Next was Moana in groups of about ten people.  When I was doing the race there was lots of splashing as if it was raining.  The next race was an egg and spoon race.  In the egg and spoon race I came second.  Lukas
