A creative spin on procedural writing.

Our focus for the last few weeks has been learning how to write step by step instructions. As a class we made chalk for a pavement art activity and then wrote our instructions (look out for a post with our pavement art - coming soon). We have made milos and written instructions and been through many more processes that have allowed us to write our each and every move.

Another set of instructions we wrote were for magic potions. We explored George's Marvellous Medicine by Roald Dahl and then decided to create our own. There were some very creative ideas throughout this process. Have a look below at some of the examples. The students published these in book creator. Book creator is a great free online tool that allows you to create books and comics. It is really easy to use and all of the students know how to get on to it and access their accounts. Feel free to have a look at their stories at home. www.bookcreator.com

Visual Literacy - Photography

Our question was "Is Photography Art?"

As part of our "Express Yourself" Inquiry we have been looking at different forms of art.

We have learnt about different elements of photography and how to read and think about images. The students are giving feedback and feed-forward about the photos they are taking and have developed some amazing language along the way. They have to identify what element they are highlighting in their photo. Here is just a few of the photos that have been taken by Room 9 students. If you would like copies of the students photos please let me know and we can email them home. They would look amazing in a frame!
