Making a Rainbow

We made a rainbow
 by Alizae and Tane
You will need:
  • a  glass

  • white paper

  • cardboard

  • scissors
What to do:
  1. To  make  rainbow  fill  the  glass  with   water.
  2. Put the  glass  on  the  paper  in  a  sunny place.
  3. Cut  a  long  narrow  slit  in  the  cardboard.
  4. Put the cardboard   behind  the  glass  so the  sun  shines through the slit.
  5. Move the cardboard until you see a tiny rainbow on the paper.

Why does this happen?
The water in the glass splits up the white light into the colours of the rainbow.

Can you see the tiny rainbow on the white paper.

A Scientist Visits

Richard de Hamel has studied all about albatrosses. He showed us lots of models to demonstrate how they fly and live. Scientists ask good questions to investigate.

This is how big their wings are.

If a small person like Shun is going to fly, he would need wings this big.
Shun had some helpers with his wings. Fortunately he didn't take off and fly away!

Lizard Visitors

Andrew, Alyssa's dad, collects lizards for a hobby. He brought them in and fascinated us with his knowledge.

Making Toast

We had fun making toast before we wrote instructions. There were lots of different ways people chose to add a topping.
